Bohol ‘vax accomp’ rate still at 65.07%

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA)—In the last 18 days, Bohol vaccination teams have inoculated some 39,614 individuals with either their first, secondary or booster doses to bring Bohol’s fully vaccinated number of individuals to 65.07%, as of April 22.

The improvement of 1.77% since April 3 came with the typhoon Agaton and the Holy Week temporarily disrupting operations and sidelining the efforts to up the Alert Levels in the towns and in Bohol to Alert Level 1.

Still at alert Level 2, Bohol still could not fully open rev its economic engines as the InterAgency task Force (IATF) on coronavirus disease (COVID) has ruled that establishments with closed venues can operate only up to 50% capacity if they have fully vaccinated crew and at 70% capacity on open venues.

Bohol has since aimed to attain at least 80% of its population fully vaccinated against COVID to be allowed a full business operation, which should also allow the local business to recover the huge losses incurred during the three years when Bohol closed to secure its people from the disease that has since killed 681 Boholanos.

Attaining the 80% vaccination accomplishment however appears tough as hesitance among prioritized individuals for vaccination remains high and the campaign to get vaccinated interrupted by calamities and the upcoming elections which could potentially trigger another spike, when people put the minimum public health standards aside.

To date, there are already 705,329 Boholanos given the initial dose, after some 13,979 individuals have been added to the list since April 3.

In the last 18 days too, some 20,121 individuals have been added to the list of fully vaccinated individuals, which contributed to the 1.77% increase in vaccine accomplishment for total Bohol.

Over 5,000 individuals have also received their booster doses during the period, bringing the total number of those with the booster shot to 81,149.

At that same period, Bohol has received the delivery of 170,680 COVID vaccines for the use of the 1,108,084 Boholanos identified for the vaccination program. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)
