An End to Our Suffering

We have experienced a whole lot of power outages due to typhoons. We vowed we will no longer rely on others for our power supply, yet here we go again!

It was not so long ago that typhoon Yolanda hit our country. We lost power and had to rely on rationing for a month, more or less. Our “leaders” promised that never again will we suffer such a terrible darkness. We promise we will have our own power supply, they said. Years gone by and typhoon Odette devastatingly visited our homeland. Where was the promise? We only recalled it now because we had to endure, even up until now for some places, blackouts? When will we ever learn?

Another typhoon has hit us once again even when we were still recovering from Odette. We lost connection from our power supply due to landslides that toppled down the electrical towers. Another suffering to endure due to a promise broken. Again, when will we ever learn? At this point in time, it is just downright pathetic for Boholanos.

As we commemorate the life, suffering, and death of Jesus Christ during this Holy Week, let us remember that every suffering has meaning and an end. With this in mind, we have suffered enough from promises that are broken time and time again. Come election time, let us always remember all the things we had to endure, all the things we deserved to receive, and all the things that were taken for granted. The time is now. Make the right choice!
