THE City Government of Tagbilaran kicked off the celebration of National Cooperative Month 2024 with the opening of a vibrant bazaar at the City Hall grounds on October 7, 2024.
Spearheaded by Mayor Jane Yap, who was represented by Chief of Staff Cathelyn Torremocha, and Ms. Adelfa Salutan, Cooperative Officer Designate and Head of the City Livelihood and Community Development Office, the event underscores the city’s commitment to supporting local cooperatives and fostering community engagement.
The bazaar, running from October 7 to 31, 2024, showcases agricultural and processed products from women’s groups representing the 15 barangays of Tagbilaran. It offers a platform for these communities to highlight their local produce and innovations, providing a boost to their economic activities.
During the opening of the National Cooperative Month bazaar, Mayor Jane Yap, represented by Chief of Staff Cathelyn Torremocha, delivered a message emphasizing the importance of cooperation and community-driven initiatives.
“This bazaar and the series of activities planned for this month serve as a testament to the City Government’s unwavering commitment to supporting our local cooperatives and empowering the people of Tagbilaran. We are proud to showcase the efforts of our women’s groups, who have worked tirelessly to present their products. These initiatives not only strengthen our local economy but also highlight the spirit of collaboration that defines our city,” Torremocha stated on behalf of the Mayor.
A series of activities are also organized to mark the Cooperative Month celebration. These include a Training Needs Assessment for Persons Deprived of Liberty, garment beneficiaries, and members of the Tagbilaran Youth Workers Association, conducted on October 7, 2024.
On October 11, 2024, a significant Memorandum of Agreement will be signed between the City Government and the Bohol Island State University and the University of Bohol. The city will also take part in the prestigious Manila FAME Exhibits at the World Trade Center on October 17-19, 2024, showcasing local talents and products on a national stage.
Other planned activities include a Community-Based Livelihood Planning Workshop and Project Proposal Writeshop on October 23-25, 2024, and the launching of the “Kadiwa ng Pangulo” program on October 29, 2024, furthering the city’s mission of enhancing community livelihood opportunities.
