LESS than a month from today, all employees in the provincial and municipal COMELEC offices in the entire country will once again experience their busiest schedule.
This should not surprise them, of course. This is an expected event to happen once in every three years only.
“Kini rang panahona hinoon nga ma-busy sila.” This is the observation of many of our brother Filipinos.
Ambitious brother Filipinos aspiring to serve their respective townmates are equally busy also. They are not only looking for the right political position they are qualified. They are also searching for some other candidates to fill up the line-up to compose the political team for the elections.
Then, these Candidates for the 2025 local elections will troop into their respective COMELEC offices for the purpose of preparing and to finally file their respective Certificates of Candidacy (COC).
But, the story does not end there.
Instead, the real story begins!
Why?
For officials in the COMELEC, they are mandated to prepare and produce all the different paraphernalia needed for the elections. And, in the process utmost secrecy has to be observed.
Most specially in the printing of Official Ballots!
Also in the distribution of Official Ballots to the different precincts in the barangays on election day!
They, too, are mandated to observe and preserve the sanctity of the ballots. Not only from the start of the voting! It ends up until the last ballot in the precinct has been counted and recorded.
And, what about the candidates for next year’s election?
After the Certificates of Candidacy have been filed, what are the next moves to be done by them?
Are they expected to relax and enjoy the whispers of winning the electoral process even in the absence of hard and sincere campaign?
There is no let up in the campaign process. Sleepless nights are spent. Day in and day out, these candidates are on the campaign trail. They believe that the campaign starts immediately after the Certificate of Candidacy has been filed and will end up after the elections.
Even on election day, these candidates are conspicuouly seen on the streets wooing for support!
But, after the May, 2025 elections, what?
