THE supposed estimate of 80,000 crowd that attended Leni’s Robredo’s rally in the old city airport in Tagbilaran City on April 1, 2022 has been bloated to suit an agenda, a former city official said.
It could have been that the figure of 80,000 seemed to be highlighted to humiliate Bongbong Marcos, who got less than 75,000 votes cast for his vice-presidential bid against Robredo’s in 2016, he said.
The figure (80,000) allegedly estimated by Leni’s organizers has been picked up by mainstream media, including Bohol Chronicle and the digital Bohol Island news and other social platforms and facebook shares.
Before the 80,000 guesstimate, there was the 60,000 crowd guesstimate, as well, appeared in social media.
Many people, including those who actually attended the said rally, were in disbelief of the estimate figure. Some say it was impossible as it looks like that almost 2/3 of the city’s population of about 110,000 have attended the said political event.For his part, facebook user Jonathan M. Tocmo has appeared sarcastic in his post: “Gipildi ang concert ni Taylor Swift sa ASAP concert sponsored by Team LeniKiko.” (Taylor Swift’s concert is lesser than that f Leni’s)
Tocmo has compared drone shots of Swift’s concert in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where some 56,000 watched and that of Leni’s rally for Robredo.

No questions ko sa mga nag attend nga mga tawo kay normal mana panahon sa election unya plus daghang artista mao gyud daghan mga tawo motan aw. Ang atoa ani dili ta maghinambog ba mag estorya gud ta sa tinood kay naanad naman mo panghambog gud.”
He continues, “Alang sa kasayoran sa tanan, Old Tagbilaran Airport is gamay lang na. Naay night market sa Provincial Government og expected naay mga tawo manganha kay mangaon og mamalit. Taas ang run-way sa airport unya dili bukad, kung boot huna hunaon wala sila naka puno sa run-way hangtod sa tumoy og mga 1/4 ra cguro ilaha na occupy. Unya mo engun sila 80,000? E zoom daw ang inyuhang picture nga gi drone unya lugos pa jud ma klaro arun ma apil palibot sa airport ang mga kasagbotan og mga panimalay.”
“Sunod gani kung mag estimate mo kana pud tinood or dool-dool sa tinood, dili kay mag over estimate mo arun engnon daghang tawo ikapanghambog? Kung puno pa ang run-way sa Airport dili mo against sa inyung estimate bisan pa og 1,000,000,” Tocmo warned. (Next time is you estimate be sure that it is closer to the truth, not overestimate. Not because you want to show that a lot people attended).
Another fb user Mike Supremo had this to say: “Mama Leni lang malakas. Papha si Taylor Swift and BTS. 80,000 gud.”
Vice-President Leni Robredo is the first presidential bet to visit Bohol and held a rally. He was accompanied by her running-mate Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.
Senatorial candidates Atty. Neri Colmenares, Atty. Cel Diokno and Richard “Dick” Gordon were reportedly with Robredo and Pangilinan.
Presidential bet Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson is the second to visit/campaign Bohol. Jagna Mayor Joseph Ranola played host to Lacson-Sotto grand rally in Jagna town.
Lacson was accompanied by runningmate Senate president Tito Sotto sentorial candidates former Agriculture secretary Manny Pinol and Dr. Minguita Padilla. (rvo)
