THE Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) of Ubay, Bohol, conducted a meeting last June 27, 2024, at ABC Hall, Municipality of Ubay. The meeting was presided by Atty. Ernesto O. Golosino, Municipal Administrative Officer. MDRRM Officer, Feliciano A. Bernales, led a prayer before the meeting started.
Updates on the effects of El Niño in the municipality was presented by MDRRM Officer, Janice B. Cutanda. The following were being presented: water shortage, agricultural damages; fire incidence; heat strokes and other medical conditions; high temperature/heat index; below normal rainfall conditions; and Bohol is under State of Calamity Preparedness Measures on La Niña and Rainy Seasons 1) establish early preparedness actions 2) Conduct respective LDRRMCs 3) Conduct pre disaster assessment 4) revisit contingency plans and emergency response plans 5) Functional and resilient emergency operation center 6) Establish reliable and functional multi hazard early warning signs 7) public awareness and IECs 8 ) strengthen evacuation system and evacuation facilities 9) ensure unhampered delivery of emergency services, logistics, flow and supply chain management 10) infrastructure inspection, audit and reinforcement 11) Endorsement of No-build zones on high risks areas 12) Utilize the LDRRM funds. DepEd Ubay 1,2,3 Districts were properly represented during the said MDRRM Council Meeting. Ubay I District, was represented by Mr. Junvic Handugan Secondary School Head Teacher, Ubay 2, PSDS Ma. Maya V. Tumalon, and Ubay 3, Mrs. Teofil Magdua Castro, Elementary School Head Teacher attended the said activity.
It was emphasized that DepEd plays a great role in disseminating information, providing advocacy campaigns, and implementing different programs and activities in times of crisis and calamities. Therefore, it is highly encouraged that DepEd personnel are fully capacitated to handle situations in times of emergencies
