A GIRL Scout Trainer is an official Girl Scout of the Philippines (GSP) member who provides training to other adult GSP members in preparation for their specific duties and responsibilities within the Movement. A trainer’s job is to create an atmosphere that fosters development and learning. They have to create an atmosphere in which learners can pick up new knowledge, abilities, and skills. This broad goal is accomplished by a variety of focused duties, including creating trainingprograms that are effective, leading lively workshops, assessing learners’ progress, keeping accurate records, and steadfastly pursuing professional growth.  GSP trainers from all over the country need to be provided with updates and other additional concepts relevnt to the GSP movement.

On April 26-28, 2024, Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) conducted a National Trainers’ Conference, held at Helena Z. Benitez National Program and Training Center, Tagaytay City. The National Conference was attended by 71 Credentialed Troop Leaders in the whole country. The following objectives were given emphasis: a) discuss broadly the programs of the GSP in partnership with the WAGGGS and other organizations which focus on the SDGs related to Environment, Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation, YUNGA and Gender Equality; b) manifest increased level of self-confidence/self-worth and competencies in carrying out responsibilities as 21st Century Trainers who are globally competitive; c) demonstrate responsible use of the social media and inclusive language; d) apply the principles and different strategies of Coaching and Mentoring in training delivery; e) incorporate the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as training methodology; f) come up with innovative and contextualized session guides and effectively deliver with confidence training sessions.

The Conference was divided into six sessions, Session1-GSP Special Programs (Focus: SDGs related to Environment, Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation, YUNGA and Gender Equality)  handled by   by: Dr. Ma. Maya V. Tumalon and Ms. Maria Elena M. Estares; Sssion 2-Appreciating the “Self” as a GSP Trainer   by: Dr.  Febe Marl G. Paat; Session 3-Shaping an Inclusive Organization, Starting With Language  by: Ms. Czieloh Jomea C. Villajin; Session 4-Mastering Growth: Effective Strategies in  Coaching and Mentoring  By: Ms. Maria Lourdes C. Cabanag; Session 5-Smart Approaches for Effective Training Delivery By: Dr.  Ma. Criselda Casasola; Session 6-Preparation and Presentation of Sessions for Demonstration  Part 1 (Preparation of Individual Session Guides)   Strategies in  Coaching and Mentoring  By: Ms. Maria Lourdes C. Cabanag; Session 5-Smart Approaches for Effective Training Delivery By: Dr. Ma. Criselda Casasola; Session 6-Preparation and Presentation of Sessions for Demonstration  Part 1 (Preparation of Individual Session Guides).

The three-day activity ended with SVD Farm visit.
