P273M FOR BOHOL

THE province of Bohol is at number 19 with only P273 million being appropriated in the Department of Education’s public school allocation this year, according to the Center for National Budget (CNB) as posted by Mayor Joseph Ranola.

CNB is urging everyone to join in its “advocacy for a transparent, equitable, and accountable national budget” as it tries to help interested ones in the budget analysis.

CNB is showing DepEd’s school building program situationer that allocates P17.046 billion this year (2024) as reflected in the regular budget of the education.

DepEd had budgeted P15.6B for 2023; P3.1B for 2022; P2.9B for 2021; and P12.9B for 2022.

If by region, Central Visayas region at number seven, got a share from the school building of P988 million, much lower than Bicol region V’s P2,663,200.00, the number one in the allocation, CNB said.

Allocation for school building program by province, Iloilo is the number one and got the lion’s share of P1,344,920,000.

This is followed (in order) by Albay, P1,120,000,000; Sorsogon, P923 million; Cebu, P595 million; Leyte, P522 million; Marikina and Batangas, each with P455 million; Pangasinan and Bulacan, P385-M apiece; Laguna, P360M; Isabela and Cavite, P340M each; Aklan, P327M; Negros Occidental, P325M; Camarines Sur, P320M; Zamboanga Sur, P310M; Ilocos Norte, P290M; Rizal, P280M; Bohol, P273M; and Quezon City, P250M in the top 20.

Manila City at number 21 and Pampanga with P240M apiece; Capiz Benguet and Neva Ecija, P210M each; Davao City and Surigao Norte, P180 apiece; Cotabato, P170M; Gen. Santos, Samar Norte, Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental, P160M each; Caloocan, La Union, Cagayan, Camarins Norte and Davao de Oro, P140M apiece; and Surigao Sur, P135M.

The following provinces and cities each got P40 million: Malabon, Mandaluyong, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Pasay City, Taguig-Pateros, Abra, Apayao, Baguio, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountaon Province, Batanes, Quirino, Aurora, Mindoro Occidental, Catanduanes, Siquijor, Camiguin, Sarangani, Dinagat Islands, Magindanao Norte, Maguindanao Sur and Tawi-Tawi.
