Municipality of Valencia Hosts the Girl Scouts
of the Philippines (GSP) Provincial Camp 2024
(Mental Health Management Protocol)

OVER the years, the GSP has been resolute in its pursuit of its youth development and character-building programs as part of the Movement’s commitment to nation-building. It is also aggressively promoting the economic expansion of the country (https://girlscouts.org.ph). After years of having virtual GSP activities during the pandemic times, an in-person camp finally was provided. GSP Bohol Council is really grateful that the Municipality of Valencia, headed by the very competent, approachable, and value-laden Municipal Mayor, Engr. Dionisio Neil A. Balite, hosted the 2024 GSP Provincial Camp.

The three-day camp started with a parade, which was managed by the Local Government Unit of Valencia, Uniformed Personnel, and the DepEd Personnel of Valencia District. It was followed by an opening program, graced with the presence of the Local Government Unit (LGU) Officials, Engr. Dionision Neil A. Balite, Municipal Mayor; Aristotle Cometa, Vice-Mayor; and SB Members Armando C. Namoc, Elpidio R. Palaca, Ritche Emmanuel N. Salise, Jerald T. Portrias, Zenon D. Bete, Rammel B. Cagulada, Arnel C. Gamba, and Silvano C. Dajang.

Bohol Council President, Anne Mariquit D. Oppus, represented the Office of the Governor during the said Opening Ceremonies.

The participating contingents were divided into sub-camps: Sub-Camp 1 (Kasapaan) is composed of Tagbilaran 1, Tagbilaran 2, Alburquerque, Baclayon, Dauis, Loay, Panglao, Sevilla, Antequera, Balilihan, Catigbian, Cortes, Maribojoc, Sagbayan, San Isidro, and Valencia Contingents; Sub-Camp2 (Kaumahan) is composed of Bilar, Batuan, Carmen 2, Carmen 3, Dagohoy, Danao, Pilar, Sierra Bullones, Buenavista 1, Buenaivsta 2, Getafe 1, Pres Carlos P. Garcia, San Miguel 1, Talbon 1, Talibon 2, Trinidad 1, Trinidad 2, Ubay 1, Ubay 2, and Ubay 3 Contingents. Sub-Camp 3 Kadagatan is composed of Alicia, Anda, Candijay, Guindulman, Mabini, Dimiao, Duero, Garcia-Hernandez, Jagna, Lila, Valencia, Clarin, Loon South, Inabanga North, Inabanga South, Tubigon East, and Tubigon West Contigents. A total of 3,599 Campers stayed in Valencia Camp from March 22-24, 2024.

Activities were conducted simultaneously: Nature Adventure (Tour), Martial Arts, Handcraft, Gir-Powered Nutrition (GPN), Outdoor Adventure Games, Free-Being Me (FBM) and Action on Body Confidence (ABC).

Skills and other camp activities were also experienced by the girls, such as Tent Pitching, Gadget Making, Scouts Own, Assigned as Kapers, and Campfire Ceremony. The hospitality of Valencianons was shown when a Welcome POWWOW was provided on the first day of the activity. Public Schools District Supervisors Exquiel Cifra, Antonio Buaya, Daisy Orcullo, Ma. Maya V. Tumalon, Cerlito Romero (the host PSDS) attended the said welcome attended the said activity. The provincial camp was made possible with the full support of the people of the host municipality, where the preparation was personally supervised by Mayor Balite, himself.

The DepEd family led by PSDS Cerlito Romero, SSP Marychel L. Garcia, CESP Nida Pajo Salise. GSP Bohol Council Executive Committee with CP Mariquit D. Oppus PhD, Council Executive Priscilla Moonyeen P. Montanez, and the Camp Staff who managed the provincial camp (specifically coming from Valencia District: Maricel N. Montenegro, Marion C. Saludes, Ma Gloria S. Sumayo, Myra May R. Dumapias, Jean C. Canete,  Nila U. Bansig, Charisa C. Namoc, Joselin S. Idusma, Amor N. Tagud, Manilyn A. Dumasig, Editha C. Balon, Ma. Frances G. Salva. Two of GSP Bohol Council Board Members spent days in Camp, CB Emma Castillo and CB Soniaflor Kapirig.

The activity was a success with the full support of the two schools division superintendents; SDS Casiana P. Caberte PhD, CESO VI of Bohol Division, and SDS Wilfreda D. Bongalos PhD, CESO V, Tagbilaran City Division.
