Smartmatic system breach

It is now only over a month ahead to the 2022 local and national elections, and the fire is on its higher level.

What adds the fire is the hottest issue these fast few days wherein the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is criticized by the people.

In a report published by a national newspaper, Comelec admitted that the Smartmatic system was breached.

The story disclosed that one of the employees of Smartmatic allowed a ‘certain group’ to copy its data.

This was discovered when Sen. Imee Marcos, chairman, Committee on Electoral reforms, together with some senators led a public hearing with some of the officials of Comelec regarding its preparation on the May 2022 polls.

Senate President Tito Sotto III, who is running for vice-president, deplored the failure of “our election gatekeepers” to ensure the integrity of the elections.

“This is very crucial as far as the issue of transparency is concerned,” said Sotto.

Smartmatic has reportedly conducted its own investigation on the serious matter.

Sotto sought for another public hearing to determine the effect of the data breach on the May elections.

Here in Bohol, businessman Willy Ramasola accused Gov. Art Yap of hiring IT experts to cheat the election wherein name of the latter is allegedly programmed to emerge as the winner this May on the gubernatorial race.

The Boholano people are advised to be vigilant on the issues involving the May 2022 elections. Always choose trustworthy political leaders. (WAS)
