OVER 200 farmers and vendors in Bohol now own Php2.7 Million worth of farm implements and other equipment for their respective livelihood projects after benefiting the livelihood assistance program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-7).
Said beneficiaries are members of the seven (7) different workers’ associations that are located in San Miguel, Bohol – the accredited co-partner of the DOLE in the implementation of the projects.
Just last Wednesday, the DOLE Bohol Field Office (BFO) and the LGU-San Miguel turned over the farm implements and other equipment needed based on the identified projects of the beneficiaries.
The Corazon Women’s Association that will venture into Restaurant and Catering Services received jigs and materials worth Php337,488.00.
For their Farm Implements Rental Services business, the following associations received materials and equipment worth as follows: Bugang Farmers Association- Php249,400.00; San Jose Women’s Association- Php146,120.00; Kagawasan Farmers Association- Php243,288.00; and Cam-ba-san Irrigators’ Association- Php999,696.00.
Php249,928.00 went to the Hagbuyo Women’s Association that will engage with Egg Production. While, Php498,482.00 was apportioned to the Bugang Women’s Association for its Swine Fattening project.
According to DOLE-BFO Chief, Maria Eloida E. Cantona, both associations are expected to receive the jigs and equipment needed for their livelihood projects within the week.
Chief Cantona, representing DOLE-7 Regional Director Lilia A. Estillore, personally turned over the farm implements and other equipment to the beneficiaries in San Miguel last Wednesday, 31 January 2024.
San Miguel Mayor, Honorable Ian Mendez personally graced the event with Acting Municipal Agriculturist Felix Lucip, PESO Manager Yevgeny Lanoy, Agricultural Technologist Ananias Nuez, and Agricultural Technologist Artemia Y. Hamo.
On top of the financial assistance extended to the beneficiaries, DOLE-7 also provided them with a group personal accident insurance good for one year through the GSIS.
“The LGU-San Miguel, as a partner, will help us monitor the implementation of the projects and make sure that each one is properly executed. We fervently hope that the beneficiaries will take care of what they received from DOLE-7,” said Chief Cantona. (DOLE 7)
