GETAFE, Bohol – Ms. Jelou Travero, representing barangay San Jose, is crowned Miss Getafe 2024 of this town by Mayor Cary M. Camacho and Provincial Board Member Atty. Jamie Aumentado Villamor who served as chairman of the pageant’s board of judges during the coronation night held at Ambacon Cultural Center, January 26, 2024.
Travero received cash prize, sash, and a trophy for the award. She also won the Best in Evening Gown and was adjudged as The Darling of the Press a week earlier.
Barangay Cangmundo’s bet Jeshel Quilay settled for first runner-up (RU) and Best in Advocacy plum. She also won the first Miss BBDN-Getafe 2024 a week back with BBDN publisher Johnny Orioque and wife Jessica Orioque donning the sash and bouquet for her.
Ms. Christine Centino of barangay Buyog got the Best in SwimWear and Best in Production Number.
Barangay Poblacion’s hopeful Jharlinda Celis was second RU. Rave Karylle Lugod of island barangay of Mahanay and Grace Mae Anana of barangay Tugas were 3rd and 4th RUs, respectively.
Mayor’s Camacho’s better half, Jesfer Camacho was hands on in managing the entire process of the pageant after it got back last year with outgoing titlist Abegail Celis Miss Getafe 2023.
Aside from Atty. Jamie Villamor, Kim Villamor, Margaret Bowden, Laure Alaba, Flaviola Joaquin, Eva Claret and Ric Obedencio composed the board of judges.
The beauty and brain competition is a traditional event of the annual fiesta celebration of the town in honor of its patron, Sto. Niño.
Barangay officials led by their punong barangay, hopefuls’ relatives, supporters and friends jampacked the center to cheer their favorite bets.
Mayor Camacho expressed gratitude to the people of Getafe, working committee staff and municipal workers, sponsors and those who have pitched assistance to make the event successful. (ricobedencio@yahoo.com)
