THE first Christmas bash of Poblacion Weste, Catigbian town exploded with an array of activities and fun that made the residents here happy.
Benjie Oliva, the former Cooperative Development Authority administrator, and family sponsored the first of its kind Christmas party ever celebrated here on December 26, 2023.
The several puroks of the barangay gathered at the town’s gym and actively participated in the contests and games.
Oliva said that highlights of the celebration are the several competitions, like the parol, costume, daygon and human belen, wherein prizes were given to the winners.
He stressed that Christmas is the celebration of love and thanksgiving. The Christmas is the symbol of love and parol that light people’s lives all throughout the year.
Kids were entertained and amused with the magician’s trick and show and gift-giving followed.
No less Catigbian Mayor Elizabeth Mandin-Pace graced the affair, saying her administration may not be able to spend this (about half a million) much for a barangay alone. She rendered an Air Supply’s “Two Less People In the World” that probably one of her favorites and another two songs ensued.
Brownbuds Band played their best in reggae and pop-disco to the delight of the people who danced their night away.
Oliva thanked the people of Poblacion Weste for their cooperation and for the success of the celebration. He vowed to do the same next year at the same date. (ricobedencio@yahoo.com)
