I GOT a surprise last week when I was notified that the Mayor nga feeling-lawyer suddenly got the nerve to greet the governor on his birthday.

The position of the governor in the upcoming midterm elections is crucial.

The traffic problem in the city is getting worse. Fact is, the number of motor vehicles using the city streets and highways is rapidly increasing, with no corresponding increase in the travel and parking space.
Worsening this malady is the practice of some motor vehicle owners to use the city streets as parking spaces and/or repair shops. One good example of this is the street ringing the provincial hospital, specifically upper Visarra Street where one side is perpetually used as parking space of motor vehicles, leaving only one side for the 2-way traffic.
And there are commercial establishments that utilized busy traffic hours to unload their cargoes along city streets, and making one side of the road unpassable for 2-way traffic.
These are just some of the causes of the monstrous traffic jam.
No wonder there are times that it take almost an hour to negotiate the rotunda in front of the cathedral during rush hours.

There are some commercial establishments that place No Parking signs in front of their establishments kay mababagan kuno ang mo-park in front sa ilang tindahan. Abtik kaayo ang gwardia nga moboyag kon dunay mo-park sa area atubangan sa ilang tindahan.
And this applies even to some city residents who place No Parking signs in front of their residences kay mo-block kuno sa ilang driveway.
So I asked the LTO about this connundrum.
And the answer was obvious.
Asa man ka nag-park, sa city street, was the question.
When answered in the affirmative, the LTO said, naa ra man diay na, kon naa ka nagpark sa city street, way katungod ang commercial establishment nga mobawal nimo kay dili man na ila, sa siyudad man na. Mahimo lang sila mobawal kon ila ang lugar nga imong gi-parkingan.
How about private residence with No Parking signs in front of their driveways, another question.
The same applies, the LTO said, that is not their property but the property of the city. Of course, for courtesy sake, anybody can understand the predicament of the private owner but legally speaking, they cannot really prevent anybody from parking on the city street.
So, mao diay nay tubag diha.

Now, this is different.
If one recalls, Pope Francis has granted his formal approval allowing Catholic priests to bless same-sex couples so long as they do not appear to endorse their marriage, marking the church’s most permissive decree yet on the issue of same sex couples.
The papal decree has naturally caused a stir among conservatives in the Catholic world.
Pwede na diay mokasal ang mga Pari ug same-sex couple, was the question.
Wrong, because the decree only allows a BLESSING, not a civil ceremony or marriage rites. Accordingly, the Pope still affirms that marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman.
So what is the issue?
Dihay usa ka Pari nga nagmisa sa wala pay Pasko. Nindot iyang homily unta, until miabot siya sa punto nga mi-komentaryo siya sa gipagawas nga papal decree.
Miingon siya nga bahala og buhaton na sa ubang mga Pari basta siya, di gyod kuno siya mokasal og same sex couple. Barogan gyod kuno niya ang iyang gituhoan nga ang kasal alang lang sa babaye ug lalaki, ug di gyod na mausab pa.
Naninuod gyod siya samtang nag-wali ug sineryos gyod tong iyang gisulti.
So when the homily of the priest was discussed outside the church by the church-goers, nindot ang diskusyon nga miresulta.
Daghang miuyon sa gisulti sa Pari, diha pod daghan nga nakasaway sa iyang gisulti.

Mao ni problema.
Angay unta parehas og interpretation ang mga kaparian sa mga papal decree, dili kay magpataka lang ang ubang mga Pari pagsabwag sa ilang personal nga pagsabot.
Kon iyang gibasa ug gisabot ang papal decree, apil na ang mga vatican bulletin about it, klaro kaayo nga gi-preserved gihapon ang sanctity sa union between a man and a woman in marriage ug wala ni mausab or giusab.
Klaro sab kaayo nga wala maghisgot ang Santo Papa og kasal between same sex couples, kay blessing lang ang gitugot.
Under the papal decree, pwede nga magpa-bless ang same sex couple and catholic priests are allowed to bless them, provided, they do not appear to endorse their marriage.
Kutob ra sa blessing, way labot ang kasal.
Another problem is – the Priest is now spreading something false, something misleading, something wrong and he seems to enjoy maligning the Pope on his papal pronouncements in public.
Mao ni problema usahay sa ubang mga Pari.
Mag-wali about sa gipang-sul-ob sa mga nanimbahay, sayop kuno, law-ay kuno, wa kuno motahod o morespeto sa kahalangdon sa misa kay nag-shorts lang o nag-tsinelas lang.
Unsay gisulti ni Pope Francis bahin ani?
Matod pa ni Pope, whoever approaches the church must find open doors and not fairs of faith.

We need modern saints, twenty-first century saints with a spiritually embedded in our time. We need saints committed to the poor and necessary social change
The pronouncement of the Pope should put sense into some church practices that borders on the ridiculous.
Naay usa ka simbahan nga nagbawal sa mga ulahi nga miabot nga mo-attend pa sa misa kay dili pwede og ulahi ug dili sab pwede og anha sila sa kilid o sa gawas mo-simba, kay anha gyod kuno sa sulod sa simbahan lang. Bisan kadtong wala maulahi gibawalan gihapon nga adto sa daplin o sa gawas sa simbahan, adto gyod kuno sa sulod sa simbahan.
Aduna pa silay mga ushers nga istrikto kaayo nga mopasunod niini.
