TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) –Bohol’s Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) garnered a score of 98.71% during the 2022 Peace and Order Council Performance Audit.
This is according to the Department of Interior and Local Government VII Regional Director Leocadio T. Trovela, who also heads the Regional Peace and Order Council secretariat.
Over this, Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado congratulated the council members for continued support contributing to the PPOC’s exemplary performance.
“This is an affirmation that we are doing the right thing, the governor who also officiated the mass surrender of 61 rebels, many of the active and armed members of the defunct Bohol Party Committee’s New People’s Army on that same day.
The DILG which is tasked to perform POC performance audits, puts up a Regional Audit Team to check on and assess the local POCs in their adherence to the parameters set by Executive Order No 177, which details the standard measures for the proactive attainment of peace and order and public safety.
The evaluation of LGU POCs focuses on frequency of conducted meetings, the implementation of a three-year term-based plan and budget allocation, submission of accomplishment reports through the Peace and Order and Public Safety Plan Policy Compliance Monitoring System, the introduction of innovative programs on peace and order and public safety.
The system also allows the DILG to oversee the implementation of effective and efficient programs, projects, and activities that aim to address issues related to criminality, insurgency, and illegal drugs, all to maintain peace and order, as well as ensure public safety.
As to the municipalities of Bohol, 43 towns and Tagbilaran City have been found to be functional, the remaining four towns audited failed in the functionality test.
Aside from being able to see how local POCs measure against their LGU counterparts, the POC performance audit also aims to recognize the advancements made by the POCs and their secretariats, improve POC strategies and interventions, and provide a platform to highlight the exemplary practices of the POCs,” according to the DILG.
Having all these and getting a score of at least 70%, this makes the POC eligible for recognition and awards for local government units.
After a thorough assessment of the documents by the Regional Audit Team, the Provincial Peace and order Council of Bohol garnered a score of 98.71% and is accorded the ‘functional’ adjectival rating.
No less than DILG Bohol Provincial Director Jerome Gonzales read the DILG letter from RD Trovela to the governor dated September 26, 2023, congratulating Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, who sits as chairperson of the PPOC in Bohol.
“We congratulate you for the exemplary performance as a council. The Department looks for4ward to the continued exercise of duties and responsibilities for the improvement of the PPOC’s functionality,” RD Trovela wrote.
With this, the DILG also hopes for Bohol to continue partnering with the agency in implementing peace and security and development agenda towards building peaceful, orderly and safe communities. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)
