SP tackles proposed ordinance
on innovative renewable energy

THE Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) conducted a meeting on August 14, 2023, at the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) Conference Room regarding the proposed ordinance on prioritizing innovative Renewable Energy (RE).

Presided over by the Chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Board Member Atty. Jiselle Rae Aumentado-Villamor, the meeting continued to discuss certain parts and revisions on the drafted provincial ordinance which aims to adopt nature-based solutions for sustainable and efficient power generation in Bohol as underscored in the Strategic Change Agenda.

They also tackled finalizing the composition of the Bohol Renewable Energy Local Board and the incentives for RE projects.

Leonilo Lafuente from the Bohol Provincial Environmental Management Office (BPEMO) shared the importance of this regulatory initiative in pushing RE within the province, as this will be part of the province’s climate proofing and mitigation program through emission reduction, energy conservation, and waste management.

Moreover, Board Member Aumentado, who is the author and sponsor of the proposed ordinance, also emphasized that the creation and composition of the local board should be streamlined for the ordinance to be institutionalized and implemented efficiently.

Members of the Technical Working Group (TWG) are composed of officials from the Provincial Legal Office (PLO), Provincial Community Development Office (PCDO), Bohol Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (BEDIPO), BPEMO, PPDO, and Bohol Distribution Utilities (DUs). They are scheduled to convene once more to conclude the refinement of the draft ordinance, thus preparing it for its inaugural reading at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP). (PiMO/JJS)
