Tagbilaran holds Traffic Management workshop

The City Government of Tagbilaran convenes key stakeholders to improve traffic efficiency. This took place during the City Traffic Management Workshop on July 17 and 18, 2023.

THE City Government of Tagbilaran conducted a comprehensive City Traffic Management Workshop on July 17-18, 2023 aimed at improving traffic efficiency and ensuring the safety of both motorists and pedestrians within the city.

The workshop, held at Jj’s Seafood Village, gathered key stakeholders, including traffic enforcers, city government officials, department heads, barangay officials, representatives from relevant agencies, civil society organizations, and participating schools, to discuss strategies and solutions in order to address the traffic concerns in the central business district of Tagbilaran City.

Implementing offices and agencies such as the City Traffic Management Office, Tagbilaran City Police Station, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Engineer’s Office and the Department of Public Works and Highways as well as, the multi sectoral representatives to include the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, transport groups and commuters, provided their perspective on the present traffic situation in the city.

Public and private schools namely Bohol Island State University, Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School, Bohol Wisdom School, Holy Name University, University of Bohol and BIT International College showcased their school’s traffic management plan.

City mayor Jane Yap emphasized the importance of the workshop by saying: “Effective traffic management is crucial for a vibrant and progressive city like Tagbilaran. We recognize the need to address the increasing traffic congestion and ensure the safety of our residents and visitors. This workshop serves as a platform for us to come together, share insights, and develop strategies to improve traffic flow and create a safer environment for everyone.”

During the workshop, participants engaged in interactive discussions, sharing best practices and experiences in traffic management.

The workshop also provided an opportunity for the Tagbilaran City Traffic Management Board to gather feedback and suggestions.

Representatives from local schools also actively participated, contributing their insights and experiences in handling traffic concerns near educational institutions.

The City Government of Tagbilaran plans to utilize the insights and recommendations generated from the workshop to address the impact of the rapid development in the city and to formulate a rationalized City Traffic Management Plan.

This plan will serve as a roadmap for the city’s traffic management initiatives, encompassing short-term and long-term strategies to improve traffic flow, enhance road safety, and provide efficient transportation services.
