City Mayor Jane Yap joins this year’s kick off for the Nutrition Month Celebration with the theme: “Healthy Diet Gawing Affordable for All”, together with the members of the Tagbilaran City Nutrition Council on July 7, 2023 at the Saulog Gym.

THE Tagbilaran City Nutrition Council commenced the celebration of Nutrition Month with a vibrant opening activity held on July 7, 2023, at the Saulog Gym.

This event marked the beginning of a series of activities dedicated to promoting the importance of healthy and affordable food for city residents.

Under the theme “Healthy Diet Gawing Affordable for All,” the Nutrition Month celebration aimed to raise awareness and encourage individuals to make nutritious food choices that are accessible and affordable.

The event brought together community members, stakeholders, and government representatives to emphasize the significance of proper nutrition in maintaining overall health and well-being.

Tagbilaran City mayor Jane Yap expressed her support for the Nutrition Month celebration and the theme “Healthy Diet Gawing Affordable for All”.

She emphasized the importance of good nutrition in the development and well-being of the community, especially for children.

Mayor Yap also shared the city’s comprehensive program, highlighting the “Womb to Tomb Serbisyong Gugma Para sa Tanan”.

Under this initiative, pregnant women received free ultrasound, and those with high-risk pregnancies are provided with milk feeding through the “Buntis Alagaan, Bata Ampingan” Program.

The city also offers free education from daycare to college and extends burial assistance, ensuring holistic support for all Tagbilaranons.

Another speaker was Ms. Rachelle Madrigal of the Department of Agriculture who talked about the importance of backyard gardening as an intervention to make healthy diets more affordable.

The City Agriculture and Veterinary Office distributed seeds for backyard gardening as a way of empowering the participants to start their own gardens and embrace self-sustainability.

This initiative encourages individuals and families to take an active role in cultivating their own food sources, promoting healthy eating habits.

The event also extended support to indigent families with malnourished children enrolled in the “Batang Abtik Bata Alaga” Program.

The recipients received champorado mix, bread sticks, and dental kits, promoting both nutrition and oral health.

DIWA Partylist represented by Ms. Pinky Blanco sponsored the snacks for the participants, providing them with nourishing rice porridge for both mothers and their children

The nutrition month celebration exemplified the city’s commitment to promoting affordable and healthy diets for all, fostering the well-being of the community from the earliest stages of life.

The City Government of Tagbilaran, together with stakeholders, will continue to prioritize nutrition and work towards a healthier and brighter future for its people.
