“Prepare for climate change,”
Vice Gov Balite urges NMYL

VG BALITE

VICE-Governor Victor A. Balite urged the National Movement of Young legislators to prepare for the climate change by taking care of the environment.

“If you destroy the environment, the effect is climate change,” he said during the first annual gathering of NMYL held at Be Grand Hotel, a beach resort in Panglao town, on June 1-2, 2023.

He said that the heat is so intense this summer, saying “we are preparing for that and we are preparing for El Nino” which the weather agency said it would last for nine months from now.

The provincial government is also preparing for the onslaught of the hot weather or El Nino that might impact farming in the province.

Gov. Aris Aumentado has formed El Nino Task Force responsible for action programs to counter the phenomenon. It’s also considering cloud seeding, if needed.

The vice-governor said that he visited and paid a courtesy visit to the Israeli ambassador to the Philippines. He said that Israel is interested to impart with Bohol on their farm technology apparently to increase production.

The vice-governor is said to have represented the governor in the NMYL event led by provincial Board Member Atty. Jamie Aumentado Villamor. (rvo)
