THE Bohol Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (BEDIPO) of the Provincial Government gathered Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Officers (LEDIPO) for a forum and organizational meeting on Friday, May 5, 2023.
The forum is aimed at streamlining efforts and strengthening investment promotion.
Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte, who welcomed guests and participants in the activity, recalled the partnership of the Provincial Government and the Board of Investments (BOI) to fast-track the flow of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) and domestic investments.
This is part of initiatives to revive and boost the local economy after major disruptions in past years, she said with BOI recognizing the potential of Bohol as an investment destination.
It is also In line with the national government’s thrust to spur economic activity and strategically develop industries in the countryside, she added, citing the steady influx of investment interest under the leadership of Governor Aris Aumentado.
Participants took part in discussions that included inputs on the importance and role of the LGU and LEDIPOs in investment promotion by Jed Ighot of the DILG representing Provincial Director Jerome Gonzales; the need for an updated and competitive local investment and incentives code by BOI chief incentives specialist Floreza Alpuerto; harmonization and streamlining of local investment and incentives code by BEDIPO head Maria Fe Dominise; and Taxation for Local Growth by Provincial Treasurer Eustaquio Socorin.
It also featured best practices in investment promotion from LGU Iloilo through Iloilo Province LEDIP Center OIC Aulynn Yue Sin.
Oton, Iloilo LEDIPO Irene Otero who also heads the Iloilo LEDIPOs Association also provided guidance on organizing Bohol LEDIPOs to begin the groundwork not only for institutionalizing their position in their respective LGUs but also to harmonize investment priorities in areas, the Provincial Government committed to support.
