“Who is this guy?”

HE is getting noticed in the capitol.

Rather, people in the capitol, especially top officials, are getting aware of him and his scandalous activities and they are alarmed.

Unsa kahay gisaligan anang tawhana.

The problem is nobody really knows him from Adam, or who he really is. He just appeared from out of the blue, and began making friends in high places.

These were the words of the governor.

Actually, the governor was just reacting to the observations of the board member.

The board member was asking about the guy who appears to be chummy to some officials in the capitol, who is name-dropping actually, and is proposing a lot of business transactions.

He has plenty of business plans and this alarms the board member because the guy is dragging with him the names, and of course the reputation, of some prominent capitol officials.

Some of these transactions are above-board but many of them though are borderline cases, meaning, they could be interpreted as abuse of authority, conflict of interest, conduct unbecoming and a possible candidate for a graft charge too.

Even the husband of the board member is alarmed.

Why?

Because the guy boasted about his business here and business there, but one problem that he noticed is – he is only name-dropping the names of prominent officials in the capitol and some personalities in the province but he is proposing to use the heavy equipment of other people, not his own.

These were the observations of the husband of the board member.

Valid observations, I suppose.

But what piqued a lot of officials in the capitol is this.

He is beginning to act like a spokesman of some top capitol officials.

Kon mosulti nang tawhana, mora og mao lagi, hawod kaayo paminawon, added the board member.

Kinsa man gyod kaha nang tawhana na, he added.

* * *

Because his presence is becoming a regular in the capitol, he appeared to develop some sense of self-importance.

Mora’g korek.

Why?

Mag-apil-apil na man na siya sa mga meetings, moapil na man og sulti bisan way labot and most of all, bisan wa imbitaha sa maong meeting, continued the board member.

In fact, a fellow board member is just waiting for the right time to ask his credentials and to question him on his unsolicited involvement or participation in official meetings or events in the capitol.

Kon buhaton na sa akong kauban, mo-second the motion gyod ko, ako gyod nang sultian nang tawhana na nga dili siya welcome nga mag-apil apil sa among mga official activities sa capitol, added the board member.

For sure, this has already stirred the hornest\ nest in the capitol, and I am pretty sure too that nag-aso aso na ang mga “marites”sa capitol about the nefarious activities of the guy.

Accordingly, some of them are already speculating that this guy must be the bag-man of a capitol official, out to make money for the next elections.

And who knows, maybe this could be true?

So when the people recall that the provincial government has just dismantled or taking appropriate action against the “shadowy” procurement group that is preying, and milking on, a lot of capitol transactions involving several millions, one thing that easily comes to mind is another possible “shadowy” transaction involving this sanamagan that is linked to a capitol official.

Makaayo kaha ni sa pamolitika kon pasagdan ning tawhana? I shudder with the thought because of the grave political repercussion this may cause.
