THE overall coordinating body for all committees, associations, and organizations in their schools that will carry out the principle shall be the School Governance Council (SGC). RA 9155’s shared governance provisions are firmly established and inforce the putting School-Based Management into practice. The functions of the School Head in the SGC are to establish the school and community networks and encourage the active involvement of school community stakeholders in school improvement processes and, serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the Council (DepEd Order 026, s. 2022).
Schools Division Office (SDO) Bohol issued Division Memorandum 0117, s. 2023, “Orientation on the School Governance Council (SGC) Policy, held at Bohol Tropics, Tagbilaran City, on March 16, 2023. The activity started with the singing of hymns through multimedia and a prayer follows. A welcome address was given by SDO Bohol GAD Coordinator, Ma. Maya V. Tumalon PhD, MDM.
School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) OIC Chief, Debra P. Sabuero, recognized the participants from the three congressional districts. The participants of the said orientation were the secondary school heads of the Division of Bohol. The activity was being graced with the presence
of the schools’ division superintendent, SDS Bianito A. Dagatan EdD, CESO V. In his inspirational message, he made mentioned three important concepts concerning the operationalization of the school governance council. There is a need to invite, involve, and influence the stakeholders.
The orientation was facilitated by SGOD OIC Chief, Debra P. Sabuero, and Angelette A. Remolador. Mr. Kenneth Regene Blasco served as the Office of the Day. The one-day activity was a very successful one for all the participants gained a lot of knowledge with the concepts of the School Governance Council as a governing body that is representative of the community and the school but operates under the control and management of the Board of Education.
