THE Provincial Government of Bohol celebrates National Arts Month with a solo exhibition made by a Boholano artist at the New Capitol Building lobby in Tagbilaran City.
The exhibit entitled “Mugna sa Bulawanong Hunahuna” features the works of visual artist Elvino Perocho Vitor, a native of Baclayon will run from February six to February 13.
Vitor displays 13 of his oil-painted artworks and features different portraits of Boholano people, which he says is a recurring theme found in his works to honor his Boholano heritage.
Vitor said that he feels honored for the recognition and hopes his work as an artist can create an elevated awareness about the arts in the Province and strengthen the Boholano identity.
“It is important for the arts to flourish in Bohol because we need to educate the people about the value of art in our community and in our identities. As a Boholano artist, it is noble that I can contribute to my community through my art. It is an important legacy that you can leave as an artist,” Vitor said.
He added that he hopes more Boholano artists can gain recognition through art exhibits with support from the Provincial Government and the private sector.
Vitor, a Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate from the University of Bohol, has conducted several art shows in the Philippines and abroad. In March, He will travel to Indonesia for an art exhibition from March 19 to April 19.
