BOHOL opened its Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Center (PAFEC) with a Memorandum-of-Agreement signing and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, January 26.
Governor Aris Aumentado led the ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the new building located at the Governor’s Mansion in Tagbilaran City. The building will serve as an extension office of the Department of Agriculture (DA), as a way to closely monitor the department’s agricultural projects in the province.
Together with Aumentado were Executive Regional Director DA-7 OIC Joel Elumba, representative of DA-RFO VII; DA Assistant Secretary for the Visayas Atty. Salvador Diputado; Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Members Lucille Lagunay, Nathaniel Binlod, Venzencio Arcamo, and Aldner Damalerio. Along with them were Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) representative Grace Pungay; BISU Main Campus Director Proceso Castil; Acting Provincial Agriculturist/ PAFEC Center Director Larry Pamugas; Provincial Veterinarian Stella Marie D. Lapiz; PSA Rep. Nicefora L. Marimon; PCA Rep. Alven Curiba; NIA, CSOs/POs, and other stakeholders.
Aumentado signed an MOA with the DA, where latter will co-finance 30 percent of PAFEC’s funding with P111,380,220.00 pesos. The Bohol Provincial Government will shoulder 70 percent of the funds with P342,388,352.19 pesos. The creation of PAFEC aims to collaborate with LGUs and the Province on DA’s plans and programs at the grassroots level, to deliver agricultural extension services, particularly for the agri-fishery sector of Bohol.
