THE City Government of Tagbilaran through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) distributed new educational toys to all the day care pupils in the city. City Mayor Jane Yap, Sir Chief Baba Yap, and City Social Welfare and Development Head Lucille Clarin led the toy-giving in the City Hall Atrium and Saulog Gymnasium on December 22, 2022.
These educational toys are crucial to the wholistic learning development of the kids. A total of 1,084 toys were given. Prior to the toy-giving, the day care pupils showcased their talents.
The CSWD is continuously delivering its mandate in response to the needs of the Tagbilaranons. In fact, the CSWD distributed Php5,000 financial assistance to more than 250 beneficiaries from the city’s 15 barangays. Further, its national arm, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provided eligible individuals with livelihood assistance grants (LAG), a form of financial assistance granted to families whose livelihoods were affected by the implementation of the community quarantine.
More than 700 beneficiaries benefitted from the project. The program prioritized households with low-income or whose small business has been affected by the pandemic. Moreover, fifty-eight women (58) also received livelihood assistance from the CSWD. These women were trained under the CSWD’s training and education arm on food processing led by Anelsa Sumalinog.
Out of the 58 women, 37 recipients who have an existing small business and SAP (Social Amelioration Program) beneficiaries were handed Php15, 000.00 each to help infuse capital to their existing enterprises. While the remaining 21 recipients received the Tocino and Longganisa Livelihood Starter Package which included 15 kilos of meat, cooler, and food processing ingredients. (Jeanette Busano)
