THE Provincial Information and Media Office (PiMO) recently conducted a Newswriting and Photojournalism Seminar-Workshop at the Ivywall Resort, Panglao.
Recognizing that learning is a continuing process and that honing the craft of relaying a story is important, the PiMO invited respected local resource persons whose expertise and wealth of knowledge are invaluable in molding greenhorn journalists and further challenging veteran journalists.
The resource persons for the seminar-workshop were: columnist Celso Thomas Fuentes, who discussed News and Opinion Writing; Chief of Staff, Office of the Governor, Atty. Antonio Amora, Jr., who tackled the 10 commandments on clear, effective Writing; and Bohol Philippine Information Agency Director Rey Chiu, who discussed photojournalism.
The seminar-workshop also incorporated a practicum as well as the critiquing of 42 participants’ outputs so that they would see the various applications of the points discussed in the various lectures.
The entire seminar-workshop was geared to better the 42 participants as news writers and journalists and to enable them to convey information effectively to the general public.
The participants of the workshop were LGU information officers, news writers and journalists from various government agencies, and from offices of the provincial government. PIMO chief Elma Teruel, former PIA regional director and editor/writer and Capitol’s head of mainstream media Ric Obedencio helped facilitated the writeshop. (PiMO/MAEP)
