THE Provincial Government of Bohol under the leadership of Governor Aris Aumentado and the Provincial Health Office through Dr. Reymoses Cabagnot, and Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez received various awards during the 2022 Local Health Systems Awards given by the Department of Health, Central Visayas Center for Health Development, held at Bai Hotel, Mandaue City on November 25, 2022.
Dr. Anthony R. Damalerio, head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRMO) represented Cabagnot and Lopez in receiving the awards on behalf of the province.
Dr. Mike Jayoma represented the Garcia Memorial Provincial Hospital, Talibon, which also garnered four awards.
These awards were: (1) the Director’s Award; (2) a plaque for PinasLakas Covid-19 vaccination campaign; (3) John Snow Award for outstanding performance in disease surveillance and response; (4) Award of Excellence in program management of mosquito-borne diseases; (5) Award for Performance-based Incentives for Barangay Health Workers; (6) plaque for Outstanding LGU in Local Health Systems; (7) certificate for TOP Performing LGU with increased budget allocated to health; (8) plaque for the Bohol Provincial Health Office in Support of Zero Open Defecation Program; (9) plaque for the TaRSIER 117 for successful implementation of DRRM-H institutionalization; and (10) certificate for the ARMORRED Award (Active in Risk Management, Outstanding in Risk Reduction in Emergencies and Disasters) to TaRSIER 117 for Organization, with most household members trained in basic life support.
Dr. Mike Jayoma received the four awards on behalf of Garcia Memorial Provincial Hospital for its trailblazing efforts namely: (1) Top5 LGU Hospital with Institutionalized DRRM-H System; (2) Best in Functional Operation Center; (3) Best Hospital DRRMH Team; and (4) Hospital with DRRM-H Best Practices.
Several municipal RHUs and Tagbilaran City through Dr. Jeia Pondoc also received awards.
Moreover, the province was named “Champion” in supporting Barangay Health Workers and received a cheque of Php200,000.00.
These awards and recognition are a testament to the provincial government’s advocacy for health development towards the well-being of Boholanos and its sustained efforts in providing social services that Boholanos deserve.
Damalerio expressed his pride for the province, not only for these awards and recognition but also for the positive comments from the different LGUs, NGAs, and other health stakeholders who exclaimed “Grabe ang Bohol. Gihakot na tanan awards!”
He thanked DOH7 Regional Director Dr. Jaime Bernadas and Ms. Ruth Del Prado, Assistant Provincial DOH Officer for these awards and recognition.
The ceremonies were led by retired General and former PNP Chief Camilo Pancratius P. Cascolan, now DOH undersecretary, as its keynote speaker. (PIMO/maep)
