An ex-mayor of Panglao has been sentenced to 40 years of imprisonment for four counts of graft in connection with the hiring of defeated candidates during the appointment ban in 2013.
It has been said that politicians believe they are exempt from the law just because they are politicians, but the court judges proved that they are not above the law! This sentencing should serve as a lesson to politicians who think they are the kings or queens of their offices. You are bound by the same laws and restrictions as your subjects, and you serve them, not the other way around!
