FULL RECOVERY

GOV. AUMENTADO

GOV. Aris Aumentado spoke before municipal tourism officers at their first quarter forum on Wednesday morning.

Aumentado urged tourism officers to take the initiative in expanding tourism sites, vowing full support towards the full recovery of the tourism industry in Bohol.

This as Bohol Tourism Office head Jo Cabarrus bared Aumentado leadership’s strategic direction for tourism towards sustainability.

According to Cabarrus, key result areas include tourism management, relationship with other stakeholders, marketing and promotions and the implementation of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan-approved Bohol Tourism Code.

Aumentado stressed a major priority is the passage of the Bohol Tourism Code which puts in place necessary regulations to address various concerns in respective sectors from transportation, tourism guide, accommodation rates, among others, which he tasked Board Member Tita Baja, also present at the activity, to be on top of.

Also a priority is the consolidation of tourism policies at the municipal and provincial levels through the ordinance.

“Our collective effort is important to address challenges in the full recovery of tourism,” Aumentado stated, recognizing tourism and agriculture as Bohol’s economic backbones.

The municipal tourism officers’ forum organized by the Bohol Tourism Office also tackled topics on Ecotourism, Creative Industry, updated Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF) Protocols, the upcoming Philippine Travel Mart, Tourism Statistics updates, resorts profiles presentations and other concerns.
