THE City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) led the observance of the “National Disaster Resilience Month” (NDRM) themed “Sambayanang Pilipino, nagkakaisa tungo sa katatagan at maunlad na kinabukasan”. The theme seeks to advocate unity towards resilience and sustainable development.
The Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) earlier emphasized the importance of a united effort in the attainment of making communities ready and safe. It added that cooperation among the public will do a great deal in helping the government achieve its goal of creating safer communities.
Opening ceremonies kicked off with a motorcade showcasing all CDRRMO response vehicles. As part of the celebration, a training of trainers for the Basic Incident Command System was also conducted by OCD’s Riza Joy Hernandez and representatives from the Bureau of Fire.
Ten new trainers are now equipped to conduct the Basic Incident Command System Course led by City Disaster Risk Reduction Management key personnel Gerard Lavadia, Von Toribio Angalot, Marko Emmanuel Longjas, Fritz Dennis Ruyeras, Maricel Castano, and Airah Balatayo. Non-CDRRM personnel were also trained including City Youth Development Office Coordinator Marbert Remolador, Philippine Red Cross Julie Pearl Supremo, and Tagbilaran City Fire Marshall INSP. Ben Bradpitt Lopez and SPO2 Ronel Lofranco.
CDRRM capped the entire celebration thru an awarding ceremony. CDRRM Lavadia acknowledged the untiring efforts of both internal and external stakeholders who have supported and journeyed with the unit through joys and hardship. Together with City Mayor Jane Yap, the unit recognized the dedication of the Punong Barangays from the city’s 15 districts; the Tagbilaran City Police Station; City Fire; City Social Welfare and Development Office; City Health Office; City General Services Office; Active Local Emergency Response Team (ALERT); City Media Bureau; City Engineering Office; City Traffic Management Office; City Youth Development Office; GUGMA Tagbilaran; Chocolate Hills Amateur Radio League (CHARL); Telephone and Radio System Integrated Emergency Response (TARSIER 117); Kabalikat RadioComm; Philippine Red Cross-Bohol Chapter; PAG-ASA Dauis Surveillance Station; PHIVOLCS Tagbilaran Seismic Station; Philippine Coast Guard Tagbilaran; Maritime Police Station, and the Tagbilaran City Schools Division.
