Vice-President Sara Duterte visited Bohol recently. We hope her visit here was fruitful as a whole and not just politically. It is a fact that some politicians like to show up for air and stroke each other’s egos. For the sake of Bohol, we sincerely hope VP Sara’s visit was not the case.
She visited some of our typhoon-damaged schools and commented about it as Education Secretary. Not to belittle VP Sara’s concerns, but we have already heard all the comments before. It has been months, after all. What the Boholanos want to know is what actions will she take as Vice-President of the Philippines and Education Secretary for our crumbling schools?
“Education is the key to the future.” No more valid words have been spoken. We advocate education, and although education is not necessarily found in schools or classrooms, school infrastructures are needed as workplaces for educators and as a separation between work and personal life.
We have not fully recovered from the typhoons that damaged our educational institutions, and we need all the help we can get. We are glad VP Sara managed to visit some damaged schools and hope she will do something about it. For the future of the Boholanos. (MIDB)
