TAGBILARAN City Mayor Jane Censoria Cajes-Yap, who took her oath on July first, made history for being the first city lady and 7th local chief executive (mayor) and the youngest ever to be such at 32.
This she declared in her inaugural speech after she was sworn in by Gov. Aris Aumentado during the ceremonial oath-taking and 56th birthday (July 1, 2022) of the city.
Her speech contains powerful thrusts and promising targets, like the tenement-like housing project for the 105,000 growing populace.
Earlier, she took her oath before associate justice Henri Jean Paul Inting held at the city hall with other officials, elected and reelected.
“Daghang Salamat sa inyong pag salig ug supporta. Today, I took my oath of office as the 7th Mayor of Tagbilaran City. The first woman and the youngest ever elected Mayor of our beloved City. Judge Henri Jean Paul B. Inting, Associate Justice, Supreme Court of the Philippines administered my oath as Mayor,” the lady city mayor said in her post.
“Vice-Mayor Atty. Adam Jala and our 10 newly-elected councilors of Tagbilaran also took their oath before Mayor John Geesnell BABA Yap as they take on their new role for the Tagbilaranons.”
“Mo hangyo ko ninyo nga inyo kong ubanan, ug tabangan sa pag serbisyo sa atong mga katawhan. #LiveLoveTagbilaran,” she said.
For his part, immediate past city Mayor Baba Yap, the husband of Jane, made his exit by the following swan song:
“Sa pag anak nako, wala ko naka hibaw nga destined diay ko to lead you. You asked for my time, I gave you my life. My term will officially end at 12 noon today (June 30, 2022). Sa 9 years natong nag kuyog, na agian nato ang 7.2 magnitude earthquake, effects from Typhoon Yolanda, Global Pandemic, and Typhoon Odette. Pero nag padayon ang Asenso Pa More tungod sa hugot nga supporta sa Tagbilaranons. I Thank God for this opportunity to lead this great city that I call home. Mo biya ko isip mayor nga malipayon tungod kay naka hibaw ko nga ang ga sunod nako mas maka pa Asenso Pa more. Salamat sa tanan nga ning salig og ning supporta. Whatever I’ll do next, I hope I will be remembered as that Mayor that gave his all. Daghang salamat, Tagbilaran City!”
