SUSTAINABLE livelihood opportunities enable Boholanos to earn a steady income, provide for their families, and improve their economic well-being.

Through government livelihood programs, workers can access the resources needed to establish or strengthen their enterprises and build more secure sources of income.

In line with these efforts, 42 Boholanos received a total of ₱3,022,115 in livelihood assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on October 26, 2026.

The awarding ceremony was held at the Bohol Provincial Capitol Lobby.

DOLE provided beneficiaries with the Livelihood Starter Kit Program, which helps vulnerable and marginalized workers establish or expand livelihood activities through financial grants and capacity-building assistance for individual or group enterprises.

Most of the beneficiaries are fishermen who can use the assistance to purchase equipment, supplies, and other materials needed to sustain and improve their fishing activities.

Among them is Antonio Amancio of Alburquerque, who plans to purchase a motorized boat and other fishing equipment to improve his fishing operations and increase his income.

“Pasalamat ko’g dako nga gihatagan ko og kabuhayan,” Amancio said, expressing his gratitude for the assistance and the opportunity to strengthen his livelihood.

Meanwhile, Gov. Aris Aumentado congratulated the beneficiaries and emphasized the importance of collaboration between the national and provincial governments in expanding livelihood opportunities for Boholanos.

“Kaning gihimo nato nga mga livelihood programs, usa ni ka paagi nga ang atong national government, uban sa atong provincial government, nagkatambayayong gayod nga muhatag og assistance para sa inyong panginabuhian,” Aumentado said.

To facilitate the beneficiaries’ participation in the program, the Bohol Employment and Placement Office–Public Employment Service Office (BEPO-PESO) assisted them in completing the requirements and preparing their livelihood proposals.

The initiative complements the Provincial Government of Bohol’s efforts to expand economic opportunities and strengthen community resilience under Bohol’s Strategic Governance Roadmap.

As the Philippines’ first UNESCO Global Geopark, Bohol continues to pursue development initiatives that promote community welfare and the sustainable use of its resources.

By helping local workers establish and strengthen their livelihoods, programs such as this contribute to building resilient and self-reliant communities across Bohol. (PIMO/MAPI)
