LOCAL cooperatives from across Bohol are bringing their products directly to consumers through this year’s Cooperative Bazaar at the Capitol Lobby, providing farmers, artisans, and community-based enterprises an opportunity to expand their market reach and generate additional income.

The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), under the leadership of Gov. Aris Aumentado, through the Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO), opened the bazaar on October 5, 2026, as part of the province’s celebration of Cooperative Month.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held led by Executive Assistant Gil Bongato together with representatives from the PCDO, formally launching the showcase of locally produced goods from participating cooperatives.

Six cooperatives are taking part in this year’s bazaar: Macaban Kakaw-Krayollo ug Lubi Netibo Agriculture Cooperative, Pagsa Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Cabilao Romblon Weavers Network, Inc., Loon Small Coconut Farmers Agriculture Cooperative, Causwagan Norte Catigbian Farmers’ Cooperative, and Khalid Islamic and Guidance Center, Inc.

Their participation reflects the diversity, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit of Bohol’s cooperatives and community-based organizations.

The PCDO also invites the public to visit the Cooperative Bazaar from October 5 to 9 and support locally produced goods and services.

The participating groups offer a variety of products, including agricultural produce, processed food items, handicrafts, and other community-based products that showcase Bohol’s rich agricultural and cultural heritage.

Beyond serving as a marketplace, the bazaar provides cooperatives with a venue to promote their products, strengthen market linkages, and create additional livelihood opportunities for their members.

Vilma Requillo of the Loon Small Coconut Farmers Agriculture Cooperative said activities such as the Cooperative Bazaar help create income-generating opportunities for farmers by giving them direct access to consumers and potential buyers.

The annual Cooperative Bazaar highlights the important role of cooperatives in driving inclusive economic growth, supporting local livelihoods, and strengthening community-based enterprises throughout the province.

Through initiatives that expand market opportunities for cooperatives, the PGBh continues to advance its Strategic Governance Roadmap fostering resilient and self-reliant communities while promoting sustainable development across Bohol, the country’s first and only UNESCO Global Geopark. (PIMO/MAPI)
