THE City Government of Tagbilaran has intensified preparations for the 2026 Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity and the School-Based Immunization Program.

A coordination meeting was held on July 7, 2026 at JJ’s Seafood Village regarding this matter.

The meeting was jointly organized by the Department of Health-Central Visayas Center for Health Development, the Bohol Provincial Health Office, and the Tagbilaran City Primary Care Facility.

Barangay officials, healthcare workers, educators, and community partners attended to strengthen coordination for the citywide vaccination campaign.

The campaign is scheduled from August 10 to September 4, 2026.

City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc emphasized the importance of collective action in protecting children from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Health officials also presented the campaign’s objectives, local immunization accomplishments, and operational strategies to achieve high vaccination coverage.

The Department of Health said the campaign aims to curb the transmission of measles and rubella, especially among unvaccinated children.

Under the program, all children aged six to 59 months will receive the Measles-Rubella vaccine free of charge.

This will be given regardless of their previous vaccination status.

Mayor Jane Yap urged parents, barangay leaders, schools, and community volunteers to support the campaign.

She stressed that protecting children through vaccination is a shared responsibility.

“By working together, we can ensure that every eligible child receives the protection they need against preventable diseases,” Mayor Yap said.

“A healthy child means a healthier and more resilient Tagbilaran,” she added.

City officials expressed confidence that stronger collaboration among stakeholders will help ensure the successful implementation of the 2026 immunization campaign.

They said this will help safeguard the health of Tagbilaranon children.
