THE City Government of Tagbilaran, through its Primary Care Facility and in partnership with the City Nutrition Council, officially launched the 52nd Nutrition Month Celebration on July 3, 2026.
The opening was held at the Tagbilaran City Hall Atrium.
This year’s theme is “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan,” which highlights the link between proper nutrition and environmental sustainability for healthier communities.
The program began with a Nutrition Month Prayer led by Ms. Joan Ganub, Assistant City Nutritionist.
This was followed by the Opening Remarks from City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc.
City Administrator Alvin Luis Acuzar delivered an Inspirational Message on behalf of City Mayor Jane Yap.
Participants also joined a Nutrition Education session conducted by City Nutritionist Rey Delos Santos.
Ms. Juliet Olalo, CLGOO, led the Nutrition Month Pledge to reaffirm the community’s commitment to proper nutrition and healthy lifestyles.
After the program, food packs and milk supplementation were distributed to pregnant mothers and toddlers who participated in the activities.
The distribution shows the city’s ongoing efforts to improve maternal and child nutrition.
In an interview, Mayor Jane Yap called on all Tagbilaranons to support the city’s nutrition initiatives.
She emphasized that proper nutrition is essential for building healthier families and a more resilient community.
The mayor noted that good nutrition during the first 1,000 days of a child’s life lays the foundation for lifelong health, learning, and productivity.
She urged parents, barangay leaders, schools, and partner agencies to work together in promoting healthy eating habits.
She also stressed the importance of ensuring nutrition programs reach every household.
According to the mayor, investing in nutrition today is an investment in the city’s future.
As part of the month-long celebration, all barangays in Tagbilaran City will hold their own Nutrition Month launching activities.
They will also conduct nutrition education sessions and community-based programs, which will end with culmination activities.
The city has scheduled a Buntis Congress on July 27, 2026.
A Nutrition Month Culmination Program will also be held at the end of July.
