‘No to impeachment’

YES OR NO?  Congw Vanvan Aumentado and her hausband Gov Aris Aumentado in one of the consultation they conducted. (Vanvan Cadorna Aumentado post)

SAN Isidro town Mayor Diosdado “Dadz” Gementiza unequivocally expressed his big no to impeachment without any explanation in his facebook post. But, surely he has his own point of view why he favored a nay to the impeachment of Vice-President Sara Zimmerman Duterte.

Probably he is the first incumbent municipal mayor who voiced his sentiment. And his constituents called for respect of his decision.

His wife councilor Gloria Gementiza also posted on her account of her no to impeachment.

On Monday, the House of Representatives will cast their respective vote, whether or not, to support the impeachment. This early a lot of sentiments have come out into the open from all walks of life in social media as the voting of impeachment is slated at House plenary on Monday.

The three solons of Bohol have yet to say openly their respective decision on the impeachment. First district Cong. Baba Yap is still on his first term, Second district Congw. Vanvan Auentado is on her second and third district Congw. Alexi B. Tutor on her third and last.

Then first district solon Edgar Chatto, Aumentado and Tutor voted in favor of articles of impeachment to the Senate in 2025. But the Supreme Court void the first impeachment complaint against Duterte on the failed procedural and constitutional grounds.

Aumentado has consulted her constituents and continue to do so until Monday in her fb post.

“With the coming voting on the impeachment issue this Monday May 11, 2026 gusto lang nako madungog ang inyong mga opinyon, ilabina sa atong mga taga Segundo Distrito – YES or NO ba mo sa impeachment?,” she said.

She said she had been consulting with municipal mayors, barangay chieftains and multiple sectors of the district just to feel the pulse of the people in her turf. She also urged everyone to comment and explain why they’re in favour or not in the impeachment.

Her post gathered some 1.3 thousand likes, 1.7 thousand comments and 378 shares and still counting as of 1:21 p.m. on May 8, 2026.

Cong. Baba Yap and Congw. Tutor, on the other hand, did the same (constituents with constituents) on the impeachment.

But an avid supporter of Yap, Bohol sr district, urged the solon to vote Yes.

One of his commenter (name withheld) chillingly warned, “Ang mo vote ug yes sa impeachment, maoy no vote sa mga tawo krn eleksyon.” (Those who vote Yes to impeachment, will get No vote this coming elections).

The ABAKA (Alyansang Bol-anon alang sa Kauswagan) called in its official statement its members, here and abroad to get involved and hold those solons who’ll vote yes in the impeachment accountable.

It called the impeachment process a farce wherein it believes that all issues raised in the complaint against the vice-president are unsubstantiated, and worse, fabricated. It added that such is a direct affront to democracy and mockery of rule of law. (Ric Obedencio)
