5 barangays vie for Saulog 2026 street
dancing and ritual showdown crown

All roads lead to Tagbilaran City as the Saulog 2026 Street Dancing and Ritual Showdown is set on April 26, 2026 in honor of St. Joseph the Worker, the city’s patron saint, carrying the theme “One Family, One City.” The citywide celebration of faith, culture, and community will begin with a vibrant street dance and parade from Plaza Rizal at 4 p.m., followed by the grand ritual showdown at the CPG Sports Complex at 6 p.m., with free admission for the public.

FIFTEEN barangay contingents will take to the streets today, April 26, 2026 for the Saulog Tagbilaran 2026 Street Dancing and Ritual Showdown, the marquee event of the city’s annual fiesta celebration in honor of Sr. San Jose.

The competition, organized by the City Government of Tagbilaran with support from the Provincial Government of Bohol, co-presenters and sponsors, will start at Plaza Rizal, pass through Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Avenue, and end at the CPG Sports Complex, where the ritual showdown will be staged.

City organizers said five judging stations have been set up along the route, where contingents will perform before judges and spectators.

Each of the 15 contingents will bring color, rhythm, and culture to the streets, with Barangay Ubujan returning to defend their championship crown in the Ritual Showdown Competition and Barangay Poblacion II for their top honors as champion of the 2025 Street Dancing Competition.

Mayor Jane Yap said the city decided to proceed with the event despite the postponement of some Saulog activities due to the energy crisis, citing its cultural and economic significance.

“Saulog Tagbilaran is a celebration of our faith, culture and identity as Tagbilaranons,”  Yap said.

“We chose to continue this major highlight because it supports our local businesses and gives our people a reason to come together in hope and solidarity.”

She said the event was also expected to generate business for vendors, transport operators and small enterprises.

“This celebration is not only about festivities. It is also about community, livelihood and resilience,” the mayor added.

Saulog Tagbilaran is one of the city’s biggest annual celebrations, drawing huge crowds for its mix of religious devotion, cultural presentation and competition.

For many residents, the street dancing and ritual showdown remain the centerpiece of the festival, showcasing both artistry and local pride.
