Tagbilaran learners showcase brains in 3rd Saulog quiz
bee showdown; BWS, HNU emerge as champions

ACADEMIC excellence took the spotlight as the Saulog Tagbilaran 2026 Quiz Bee (Year 3) was successfully held on March 23, 2026, at the Bohol Cultural Center, featuring a state-of-the-art digital competition that brought together the city’s brightest young minds.

Top-performing schools competed across two major categories, showcasing their knowledge and critical thinking skills.

In the English, Science, and Mathematics Category, Bohol Wisdom School (BWS) emerged as champion, followed by University of Bohol – Victoriano D. Tirol Advance Learning Center (UB-VDT-ALC) in second place, and Holy Name University (HNU) in third place.

Meanwhile, in the History, Tourism, and Culture Category, Holy Name University (HNU) claimed the championship title, with UB-VDT-ALC securing second place and Bohol Wisdom School (BWS) finishing third.

Now in its third year, the Saulog Quiz Bee continues to stand out as a fully digitalized competition designed to meet international standards, offering a faster, more dynamic, and engaging experience for both participants and spectators.

A total of 15 schools participated in this year’s competition, including Bohol International College (BIT), Bohol Wisdom School (BWS), Cogon National High School (CNHS), Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School (DCPHS), GreatMinds Leadership Academy (GLA), Holy Name University (HNU), Holy Trinity School Foundation Inc. (HTSF), Manga National High School, Mansasa National High School, San Isidro National High School (SNHS), St. Therese School of Tagbilaran Inc. (STSTI–Mansasa), Tagbilaran City Science High School (TCSHS), Tagbilaran Grace Christian School (TGCS), University of Bohol – Junior High School (UB-JHS), and University of Bohol – Victoriano D. Tirol Advance Learning Center (UB-VDT-ALC).

Mayor Jane Yap underscored the importance of education in shaping the future of the city’s youth, saying, “This Quiz Bee reflects our continued investment in education and our belief that our young people are the foundation of Tagbilaran’s future.

Through initiatives like this, we aim to nurture knowledge, critical thinking, and excellence among our students.”

Organizers also expressed their appreciation to the dedicated team behind the successful conduct of the event, including arbiters, coaches, and participants, as well as Saulog Quiz Bee Chairperson Marysol Perocho and the City Hall family for their efforts in making the activity possible.
