INTELLECTUAL excellence and athletic spirit are set to take center stage as Tagbilaran City prepares to hold the 3rd Saulog Quiz Bee on March 23, 2026, followed by the opening ceremony of the Saulog Sportsfest 2026 and City Olympics on March 24, 2026, marking the start of major festival activities under this year’s Saulog celebration.
Both events are being spearheaded by City Budget Officer Marysol Perocho, who serves as chairperson, ensuring the successful planning and implementation of these key Saulog activities.
The 3rd Saulog Quiz Bee will be held at the Bohol Cultural Center, where top-performing students from various public and private schools across the city will compete in a highly anticipated academic showdown.
Unlike traditional quiz competitions, the Saulog Quiz Bee features a fully digitalized format designed to meet international standards, making it faster, more interactive, and engaging for both participants and spectators.
The competition will be divided into two categories: English, Science, and Mathematics for the elementary level, and Bohol Culture, History & Tourism for Grades 7 to 10.
Participating schools will include BIT International College (BITIC), Bohol Wisdom School (BWS), Cogon National High School (CNHS), Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School (DCPNHS), GreatMinds Leadership Academy (GLA), Holy Name University (HNU), Holy Trinity School Foundation Inc. (HTSF), Manga National High School (MNHS), Mansasa National High School (MNHS), San Isidro National High School (SNHS), St. Therese School of Tagbilaran Inc. (STSTI–Mansasa), Tagbilaran City Science High School (TCSHS), Tagbilaran Grace Christian School (TGCS), University of Bohol–Junior High School, and University of Bohol Victoriano D. The following day, March 24, the spotlight will shift to sports as the Saulog Sportsfest 2026, also known as the City Olympics, will officially open at the City Hall Grounds.
The event will commence with a vibrant parade featuring athletes, team officials, barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan representatives, Mutya sa Tagbilaran candidates from all 15 barangays, sports commissioners, and city government department heads.
City Mayor Jane Yap, First District Congressman John Geesnell Yap II, and Vice Mayor Adam Jala, are expected to deliver messages highlighting the importance of sports development, unity, and youth engagement.
A highlight of the ceremony will be the lighting of the ceremonial cauldron by Tagbilaran’s pride, Joseph “The Hunter” Sumabong, reigning WBO Asia Pacific Youth Champion, symbolizing the official opening of the city’s two-month-long sports activities.
The Saulog Sportsfest will feature a wide range of sporting events, including airgun, airsoft, arnis, athletics, aquascaping, badminton, baseball and softball, basketball, billiards, chess, dancesport, frisbee, futsal, karatedo, lawn tennis, Mobile Legends, sepak takraw, soccer, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, and weightlifting.
