UBAY, the biggest municipality, in terms of population and land territory, in Bohol celebrates its 149th annual fiesta with an array of activities, not just to revel but for thanksgiving and honor Sto. Nino, its patron saint.
Contingent PUNDOK SA NAGKAHIUSANG MANANAGAT of the Bohol Northern Star College, Inc. (BNSC) grabbed the championship award and hauled minor awards in the “mardi gras” style showdown competition.
BNSC harvested the awards with prizes, such as: Best in Street Dancing, Most Lively Contingent, Best in Production Design, Best in Musicality and Best in Choreography, according to the fb post of John Mark Boyles.
Contingent number six, TRIBU KALINANGAN – BANAY KILKIGAN – Biabas (Biabas Trade High School), settled for Best in Costume.
Tribu Madasigon of barangay California got the first runner-up plum and Contingent number six, TRIBU KALINANGAN – BANAY KILKIGAN – Biabas (Biabas Trade High School), second runner-up.
The queen of Tribu Madasigon of barangay California won as Ubay-ubay Sinulog festival queen 2026.
The pouring rain did not dampen the spirits of hundreds of spectators in a jampacked oval beside the PureGold building after the almost an hour parade of six contingents competing this year. It left traffic in chaos as almost all main streets were closed just to accommodate the parade.
Mady Mayor Violeta D. Reyes and his husband, Vice Mayor Constantino H. Reyes jointly extended their heartfelt greetings to all Ubay people in the celebration.
They pointed out “This blessed occasion is a meaningful reminder of our rich history, strong faith, and shared identity as one united community. May the Señor Sto. Niño continue to guide us with hope, wisdom, and compassion, and inspire us to work together in building a more peaceful, caring, and progressive Ubay.”
They urged everyone “to celebrate with caution, kindness, and responsibility and look after one another, respect our differences, and uphold the true spirit of the fiesta—joy rooted in faith, unity, and love for our fellow Ubayanons.” (Ric Obedencio)
