THE tomb raiders struck again and causing defacement of concrete graves in cemeteries in Mabini town is not unusual, according to the blog of media practitioner Edgar Tumanda in his facebook post recently.
This came after a deliberate destruction of one of the concrete crypts in barangay Baybayon, Mabini, Bohol recently. The tomb raiders literally ransacked and extracted the buried body of Margie Labid from her coffin inside the concrete crypt, according to the kin of the deceased in interview by Tumanda.
Finding no valuables inside Labid’s coffin, the kin believed that the raiders tried but failed to ransack the nearby crypt as can be shown in cracked tomb.
It was not immediately known what was the motive of the tomb raiders in plundering the graves.
The grave of Labid, who was reportedly interred months back, was raided for alleged valuables believed to be buried with her in barangay Baybayon, sketchy police report said. She died of a lingering sickness.
“Dili na bag-o dinhi sa amung lungsud sa Mabini Bohol, Ang pag pa molpog ug mga nitso ug lubnganan sulod sa mga minteryo. Gani naka hinumdum ko usa ka lubnganan dinhi niining ma-ong Catholic Cementery sa Brgy,” he said.
(It’s not new (literally) in our town of this kind of defacement of concrete crypts in cemeteries here. I recalled here was this tombs being destroyed in Barangay Lungsoddaan).
“Bo-ot ipasabut dugay na kaayu kining gihimo sa mga hilabtanun ug gi kon pirma kini sa Barangay Kapitan sa Valaga nga si Hon. Josue Casabuena, nga atong na hinabi karung buntag nga kansang panimalay do-ol ra usab niining ma-ong seminyeryo. Unsa man kaha Ang maayung buhaton arun ma sumpo ni,” he said.
(This means that this has been the work of the perpetrators. And this is confirmed by barangay Valaga chair Josue Casabuena, whose house is nearly the said cemetery.)
Tumanda was able to talk to some of the kin of the deceased, who made some repairs of the desecrated graveyard n said barangay. But he said he did not try to probe more and ask the viewers of his video posted to comment. (rvo)
