
THE municipality of Lila, Bohol has marked its 158th founding day on January 20 with an array of activities during the week-long revelry.
Mayor Atty. Arturo “Jed” Piollo II, along with the Vice-Mayor Regina Salazar and Sangguniang Bayan members, led the said anniversary, including the showcasing of agricultural products the town produced.
Mayor Piollo expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all Lilanhons for their unwavering support and active participation, for without it, it never be successful. He also thanked those on forefront in preparations and all the staff, organizers and volunteers and agencies concerned for their dedication.
The foundation day celebration was not without a Holy Mass, officiated by our Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Gamaliel Gamas. A grand parade and a showdown of school drum corps with impressive performances followed thereafter.
Adding color to the event, Gov. Aris Aumentado paid a visit and representatives of provincial board members.
Showcasing the richness of the town’s culture, traditions and heritage, the celebration launched the Philippine Folk Dances competition. Barangay La Fortuna was the winner; Barangay Tiguis, 1st Runner-Up; and Barangay Nagsulay, 2nd Runner-Up. While barangays Taug, Tiguis and Malinao East got the special awards. (rvo)
