CARMEN, Bohol – Incumbent Lady Mayor Conchita “Che” Toribio delos Reyes is set to donate parcels of lands her family owns in this strategic crossroads town for public welfare.
Provincial Board Member Natahniel O. Binlod bared before press interview yesterday that Mayor Delos Reyes will donate a hectare for Carmen Science High School and half hectare each for the construction bus terminal, drug rehabilitation center and public cemetery.
Mayor Delos Reyes confirmed all of these properties located in Poblacion Norte of this progressive hinterland town to be donated for the above purposes.
It will be recalled that Mayor Delos Reyes, who owns over 60-plus hectares, has bestowed a parcel of land for the construction of Carmen Municipal College. And in nearby lot, Delos Reyes also provided a lot for the establishment of Land Bank of the Philippines branch, apparently to cater residents of this farm-rich town.
The mayor said that the college education is for free and they’re catering now non-Carmenanons. It means that no tuition is being imposed but the miscellaneous fees of just over a thousand pesos per semester is not.
Meanwhile, Binlod said that the municipality will likely implement the street lighting using the solar energy within the entire Poblacion.
This surfaced as fear of funds for street/national highway lighting project from Alicia town to this town and other infra projects funded by the national government may be lost after the presidential veto of some items of the national budget. “Who knows,” Binlod said in vernacular.
Binlod said that the street lighting project has already been started and now it is already in barangay Bicao, Carmen. But this is being stopped for no clear reason.
