THE Provincial Government of Bohol has officially recognized Tagbilaran City for its outstanding performance in environmental stewardship for the 2024–2025 period, highlighting the city’s sustained commitment to sustainable and inclusive environmental governance.
Through the Bohol Provincial Environmental Management Office (BEMO), a Certificate of Recognition was conferred on the Tagbilaran City Environmental Management Office (TCEMO) on December 19, 2025 in recognition of the city’s exemplary implementation of Ecological Solid Waste Management program.
The Certificate of Recognition was received on behalf of the city by Engr. Raul Aparicio II, Head of TCEMO, from Ms. Jovencia Ganub, BEMO Head.
The award underscored Tagbilaran City’s success in advancing environmental initiatives that are both innovative and people-centered.
The city was particularly lauded for earning the Excellence Award in Women’s Participation in Waste Recycling, a program that empowers women to take the lead in recycling and resource recovery initiatives, while opening opportunities within the green economy.
The provincial government likewise cited Tagbilaran City’s creative waste collection system, which uses music to encourage public cooperation and compliance.
The initiative transforms routine waste collection into an engaging environmental campaign, boosting community awareness and participation in proper waste disposal.
City Mayor Jane Yap welcomed the recognition, commending TCEMO and its partners for their dedication and innovation.
“This award affirms that when environmental programs are inclusive, creative, and community-driven, they truly make a lasting impact. I commend TCEMO for leading initiatives that empower our people—especially women—while protecting our environment. Tagbilaran will continue to pursue sustainable solutions for the benefit of present and future generations,” the mayor said.
Provincial officials noted that the recognition reflects TCEMO’s strong leadership and Tagbilaran City’s holistic approach to environmental management.
By integrating social inclusivity with creative operational strategies, the city continues to serve as a model for other local government units across Bohol in the pursuit of environmental excellence.
