Tourist arrivals at Danao Adventure Park keep rising

THE tourist arrivals in extreme escapade at Danao Adventure Park (DAP) in the landlocked Danao town continue to increase even before the year ends, Mayor Celeste Cepedoza Lerion said in a social media posted video recently.

Cepedoza-Lerion said that these arrivals, both domestic and foreign, of 37,000 plus surpassed last year’s 34,800 even it’s still tenth month of the year.

This year’s arrivals count 90% domestic and 10% foreign while last year’s, 88% domestic and 12% foreign.  DAP earned over Php34 million last year.

The mayor said, “Wala mo-os-os ang turista sa Danao.” (Tourist visiting DAP did not decrease).

DAP’s aggressive advertisement campaign dubbed, “You’re not only paying the services but experience,” may have attracted the visitors.

Bohol Tourism players said that Bohol is not the only suffering from decline of tourist arrivals. They said the closure of Virgin island and the manmade feeding of whale shark in Lila, Dauis and Alburquerque affect the waning.

Local tourist players are turning to domestic tourism market to sustain growth amid a continued drop in foreign arrivals, particularly from key markets such as South Korea, China, and Taiwan.

Foreign arrivals between January and September fell by 2.37 per cent to 4.33 million, with all three markets posting double-digit declines, a report quoting data from the Department of Tourism (DoT) showed.

It said that contrary to reports, domestic tourism remains vigorous, with 58.7 million local trips this year as Filipinos increasingly choose to travel within the country and explore lesser-known destinations.

DAP boasts of its extreme adventures, like the zipline (the first ever), cable car, the suislide or the Plunge, giant swing, the zip bike, rappelling, that help boost its tourism income. (Ric Obedencio)
