Carmen mayor unsure if unchallenged in LMP poll

MAYOR DELOS REYES

CARMEN, Bohol – Mayor Conchita “Che” Toribio de los Reyes is not certain if indeed no one will challenge her in the election of presidency of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines-Bohol chapter.

In a press interview, Mayor Delos Reyes said there may be interested in the position, who knows. This surfaced as she is considered unopposed.

She said that because of the “strong endorsement” from her colleagues and the governor’s team Abante, she is considering to be LMP head.

If elected as LMP president, Delos Reyes will be the second lady in the third district to become president of the mayors of the province after then Dimiao Mayor Sylvia Adame.

The LMP election of officers for the term 2025-2028 is set on September 18, this year, she said.

Meanwhile, de los Reyes is grateful that the case (suspension) against her last year for the Sagbayan’s town Captain’s Peak resort controversy is now over. This came after the Ombudsman absolved her and her brother, then mayor and now vice-mayor Ricardo Toribio of the indictment.

Mayor Che reported that she ordered the stoppage of operations of ‘Bud Agta’ resort in this town since it has no mayor’s permit to operate.

The said resort allegedly violated the provisions of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources that gave it a little percentage of lot use of the ‘Chocolate Hill.’ It built a spiral staircase on a hill upwards that was reportedly over what was allowed. (rvo)
