Cortes councilor new PCL-Bohol president

THE single-digit vote advantage between San Isidro councilor Gloria Gementiza and Cortes councilor Jhoanna Cabalit-Initay in PCL presidency race has thrilled many in the last hours of counting held at the Bohol Cultural Center on Friday.

Initay emerged as the winner with 226 votes cast, according to DILG-Bohol provincial director Jerome Gonzales in proclaiming the winning candidates.

Lawyer Glenn Anino, who was unopposed, is the new PCL executive vice-president. Completing the VPs are: City councilor Fausto Budlong, Internal VP; Angelyn Camacho, external; Archimedes Lungay (Catigbian), VP for 1st district; Gerry Garay (San Miguel), VP for 2nd; and Victoriano (Mabini), VP for 3rd.

Valencia councilor Rammel Cagulada, CPA, who was also unopposed, is the new secretary-general; Ronald Malanog, deputy sec-gen; Rhea Marie Pon-Martinez (Dauis), treasurer; Lynbell Gamutan-Café, Assistant treasurer; Tubigon councilor Virgelle Gail Jao, auditor; Ma. Rowena Sajonia, Public Relations Officer (PRO); Joe Ocho, asst PRO for 1st district; Ralph Celocia, asst. PRO for 2nd; Anastacio Suaybaguio, Jr., asst. PRO for 3rd; G-Hernandez councilor An P. Baja, business manager; and Efren Mandin, assistant business manager.

PCL Board of Directors: Kien Alhe Garsuta, Paul Vincent Orapa, Carmen councilor Christian Paul Ordonez, Antequera councilor Al P. Coquilla, Lon councilor Willou C. Tan, Anda councilor John Deligero, Rey Anthony Supanga and Eduardo Torremocha.

Initay, who expressed gratitude to her fellow PCL for the support, said in an interview that she expected to win.

She vowed to make changes in the running of the 482-strong Philippine Councilor League-Bohol chapter and to make it more transparent.

She said that her administration will ensure transparent governance in providing insurance coverage to each member and connectivity that PCL could help those in need of legal assistance and to formulate more activities for the league. She also said she will look into the finances of the league as she expressed support of Gov. Aris Aumentado’s programs and projects.

Initay and company are expected to take their oath before Gov. Aris Aumentado. As an ex-officio member, she will attend and participate in the regular session of the Sangguiang Panlalawigan on Tuesday next week. (rvo)
