UNDER the proactive leadership of Mayor Jane Censoria C. Yap, the City Government of Tagbilaran continues to invest in building a more empowered and emotionally attuned workforce with the training on Coaching and Managing with Emotional Intelligence held on July 11, 2025, at JJ’s Seafood Village, Tagbilaran City.
Spearheaded by the City Human Resource Management and Development Office (CHRMDO), the training was attended by department heads and heads of offices from across the city government.
The initiative is part of Mayor Yap’s broader vision of capacitating leaders in government, recognizing that emotional intelligence is an essential component in today’s workplace, especially in leading people, managing teams, and delivering responsive public service.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Hanna A. Butaya, CLDP, who guided participants through a series of modules on emotional self-awareness, empathy, managing emotions under pressure, and coaching employees for growth and performance.
The training underscored how emotionally intelligent leadership fosters a culture of trust, collaboration, and accountability within the organization.
CHRMDO emphasized the importance of such learning opportunities in aligning leadership development with the city’s service-oriented goals.
“The ability to lead with emotional intelligence is no longer optional—it is vital in shaping effective, human-centered governance,” the office shared.
Mayor Jane Yap, a staunch advocate for capacity building and good governance, continues to support initiatives that elevate the competencies of local leaders.
By focusing on emotional intelligence, the City Government of Tagbilaran affirms its commitment to creating a work environment that values emotional wellness, mutual respect, and continuous learning.
