
BOHOL witnesses the significant moment in its clergy history during the seven-day 130th annual retreat and plenary assembly of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
Over 80 bishops and a hundred synodal delegates were participating in the week-long assembly, dubbed 130th CBCP retreat/consultation for synodal implementation.
The delegates are welcomed by Bishop Alberto Uy and Bishop Patrick Daniel Parcon of the dioceses of Tagbilaran and Talibon, Bohol, respectively. They were billeted at Bohol Tropics Resort and Metro Center Hotel, all in Tagbilaran City.
Bishop Patricio Buzon said in his homily that “God as the source of peace, praying for an end to war and conflict.” The bishop presided over the holy mass on its third day at the Immaculate Conception Catholic church, Baclayon, Bohol, one of the oldest stone churches in the country, where the Bishops and synod participants gathered. His concelebrants were Bishops Marvyn Maceda and Ruben Labajo.
Baclayon Mayor Atty. Alvin Uy also welcomed the assembly during dinner where he delivered a short speech for the visitors.
The bishops and synod participants were entertained by the Music&Me duo and the Dimiao Children’s Rondalla during the dinner.
On Thursday plenary continues and after that it concluded followed by the holy mass. In the afternoon the participants are expected to enjoy for recreation and relaxation, with optional tour in the Chocolate Hills in Carmen town, Tarsier sanctuary in Corella town, or the Mirror of the World in Sikatuna town.
The second day (Tuesday) the bishops and clergy gathered in prayer and communion during the Eucharistic Celebration presided over by His Eminence Pablo Virgilio Cardinal David, D.D., President of the CBCP, at St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral, Tagbilaran City.
On the last day, July 4, the clergy visited Anda, particularly at Bugnaw Si-e beach resort, where they were received by Congresswoman Alexie B. Tutor.
